Food and wine aficionados shouldn’t miss this month’s Taste of Cayman Food & Drink Festival, one of the Caribbean’s premier festivals for international and local cuisine. You and your loved ones can browse booths overflowing with samples of delicious food and drink by dozens of Cayman’s top chefs and bartenders, including local street food, international dishes, whimsical cocktails, craft beer and exquisite desserts.
Celebrating its 31st year of operation, the festival is organised by the Cayman Islands Tourism Association (CITA) and sponsored by Cayman Airways and will take place on January 26 at Camana Bay’s Festival Green.
“Our annual Food & Drink Festival boasts some of the top chefs and establishments in the Cayman Islands and gives patrons the opportunity to enjoy such a diverse array of awesome food, wine and cocktails whilst being entertained by live music from both local artists and international tribute acts,” says Tiffany Dixon-Ebanks, CITA Executive Director. “There is something for everyone to sample and ‘taste’ at Taste of Cayman.”
Don’t miss the Amateur Chef Cook-Off, where locals showcase their creativity against the clock. Talented bakers compete for the best Heavy Cake, the Islands’ traditional dessert, which you can sample afterwards. Another fierce contest is the Seven Fathoms Rum Challenge, which features the most talented mixologists competing to make the most innovative and tasty cocktail.
Your children can tap into their inner chef at the Kids’ Zone with seed-to-plate demonstrations, movie screenings, balloon fun and face painting.
Looking to get closer to the action? The Experience Room offers visitors a chance to participate in cooking demonstrations, cocktail creation lessons, wine pairings and dessert making.
Make sure to submit your vote for title of Cayman’s Favourite Restaurant and find a good spot to relax and take in the view of the spectacular fireworks show.
