Grand Cayman is an obvious winner when it comes to a Caribbean vacation, but sometimes you may seek a more tranquil pace of life, though no less fun. Little Cayman is the smallest of the three Cayman Islands, and though it may be just a tiny strip of land, it’s certainly not small on adventure. Little Cayman is easily accessible with a Cayman Airways Express flight, so jump on board and let the fun begin!
8:00 AM: Catch Some Fun
The Island is perfectly geared up for the outdoors adventurer, particularly if you love water sports. The Southern Cross Club offers fantastic fishing for beginners and the more adventurous. If you have only a short time set aside for your Little Cayman trip, it might be worth booking a morning’s worth of fishing in The Flats, an ideal, gorgeous spot for catching snapper, ocean triggerfish and even barracuda. Those with more time to spare can book an offshore deep-sea fishing trip and try and catch tuna, wahoo, snapper, mahi-mahi or marlin. Either way, an experienced guide will help you make the most of your trip.
12:30 PM: Lazy Lunch
Time for some refreshment. Lunch at the Southern Cross Club will be a leisurely affair and will most likely include a selection of fresh salads, pastas, soups and mains. Find yourself a hammock after lunch and settle in for a lazy afternoon nap.
3:00 PM: Beach Bum
Point ‘O Sand beach is a must-do when in Little Cayman. Located at the eastern tip of the Island, it’s likely you will have the whole stretch of white-sand beach all to yourself. Kick back on the beach, swim or don snorkel and fins and explore underwater (beware: the currents can be strong). There’s a shaded picnic area and you can also spot the neighbouring Sister Island of Cayman Brac just a few miles away.
5:30 PM: Tranquil Evening
Head off by sail or kayak to exotic Owen Island, an uninhabited island where you can take an evening picnic and soak up the sheer peace of the location. Imagine you have the place to yourselves (and you just might!) and submerge yourselves in total relaxation. Travel back to the “mainland” and end your day with a romantic walk along the beach. Feel the soft sand between your toes, enjoy the cool breezes, and make sure to look up and admire what’s sure to be the most stars you’ve ever seen!
