In the Cayman Islands, there’s no shortage of luxury real estate.
Luxury living isn’t hard to come by in the Cayman Islands. Just look to Seven Mile Beach, where you’ll find a strip of sand sporting some of the Islands’ most magnificent mansions, ranging anywhere from three to 10 stories tall. Less than a mile away on Governor’s Harbour, condominiums and multi-storey homes line the canal quays with plenty of dock space to store your watersport toy of choice. Families can also find enclaves on the quieter side with homes that are just as luxurious (and exclusive) in the South Sound neighbourhood — private beach included. Cayman Airways Skies spoke to some of the Grand Cayman’s real estate experts to find out the latest luxury digs to hit the market this spring.
Living on the water takes on dual meaning at Governor’s Harbour, where homes are set on a collection of parallel quays within walking distance of Seven Mile Beach. Watersports lovers can dock their boats out front, whilst golfers can find world-class courses like North Sound Golf Club just a few minutes away. On sought-after Raleigh Quay, this $2 million, two-storey canal-front home spans 4,400 square feet and is perfect for entertaining guests with its outdoor deck, pool and hot tub sitting steps from the gazebo. “From its location on the canal, you can easily jump in your boat and cruise over to Stingray City in the North Sound or walk over to the Kimpton Seafire Resort + Spa for a drink on the beach whilst you watch the beautiful Cayman Islands sunset,” says Phillip Wood, a real estate advisor at Engel & Völkers. The 65-foot dock features two shore power points and plenty of space to park your powerboat or yacht. Upstairs, you’ll find a 500-square-foot al fresco terrace leading out from the house’s upstairs master suite, whilst the ground floor is home to three bedrooms and a modern chef’s kitchen for those looking to make use of their culinary skills.
Just east of George Town sits the coastal neighbourhood of South Sound, a family favourite for its sporting facilities like squash and tennis clubs with programmes for kids of all ages. One spot that Heidi Kiss of Engel & Völkers calls “Caribbean living at its finest” is a $3 million beachfront home dubbed “Sea Le Vie.” Spanning 4,400 square feet, this energy efficient home boasts 12-foot-high ceilings and expansive glass windows framing views of a private stretch of white-sand beach. When you’re not making the most of the sea, the Jerusalem limestone-lined pool will definitely be a great alternative, complete with hot tub, al fresco shower, cabana and BBQ grill.
Sunset Point is a 14,950-square-foot, six-bedroom home that sits on an estate with two other buildings: a coach house with gym and steam room and a pool house with a full bar and catering facilities. “Located in the heart of Grand Cayman’s Seven Mile Beach district, Sunset Point is one of the largest estates on the island,” says James Bovell, broker and co-owner at RE/MAX Cayman Islands. “No expense has been spared with its European design coupled with the state-of-the-art technological features, and, of course, the incredible views.”
The views Bovell speaks of are the panoramic ones overlooking the water sports haven of North Sound and the Caribbean Sea. The 1.2-acre estate sits on the western tip of Britannia Estates, a 93-acre residential development that includes perks like access to nearby tennis courts. You don’t need to leave Sunset Point to find a slew of entertainment, though. The $10 million mansion is home to everything from a seven-seat cinema room to a saltwater pool and spa.
