CAL staff rename in-flight magazine
September 01, 2009

Cayman Airways Skies was selected as the new name for this in-flight magazine, thanks to three Cayman Airways employees.

Cayman Airways pilot Captain Chris McTaggart, and reservations agents Sharron Thompson and David Barry each submitted the name “Cayman Skies” for consideration in a special re-naming competition among all Cayman Airways staff. An internal review committee unanimously chose the name out of more than 200 submissions, revising it slightly to include the airline’s full name.

“This name, Cayman Airways Skies, reflects the new business model and repositioning of the magazine as a true in-flight publication, while embracing one of the primary values our rebranding was based on a year ago – being Caymanian,” said Cayman Airways CEO Designate Olson Anderson. “We applaud all our employees who participated in this exercise so enthusiastically, and congratulate the top three winners.”

The magazine’s new publishers, HCP/Aboard Publishing, donated a weekend for two at a luxury Miami hotel to the competition’s winner. The prize includes dinner for two, and Cayman Airways added two confirmed tickets to Miami to complete the package. Capt. Chris McTaggart emerged the prizewinner following a drawing between the top three winners.

“I’m very excited about the new in-flight magazine and I’m thrilled to have been part of its development,” said Capt. McTaggart.
